VAUGHAN INTRODUCES ONLINE PAYMENT OPTION FOR PARKING TICKETS

Vaughan, ON on December 6, 2007The City of Vaughan has launched a website application for paying parking tickets online. This new feature is an example of e-government services that employ web-based computer technologies to allow the electronic exchange of information between the City and its residents and businesses.

“We are introducing e-government services to improve the efficiency of our service delivery and for the convenience of our residents,” said Mayor Linda Jackson. “This is just one example of how the City of Vaughan is moving forward to provide better access to public services.”

The Ticket Online Payment service is available on the City’s website at www.vaughan.ca under the Featured Project section or the Online Services pull-down menu.

Users are required to enter their parking ticket number, licence plate information and the province where the licence plate was issued. Users then select the ticket or tickets they wish to pay and enter their credit card information. Acceptance or refusal of payments is controlled by the financial institution that issued the credit card. There is a $2 convenience fee charged to the user’s credit card which is collected by the provider of the service.

The online payment feature is provided by PayVaughanTicket.com, owned by Groupe Techna Inc. User information is not shared with third parties and computer “cookies” are not used by PayVaughanTicket.com. They employ a secure connection using the latest technology to ensure the safe processing of transactions.
